Beach Bums, part 1

We went to Destin last week and had a blast!  I had forgotten how much I have missed the beach, but being there quickly reminded me. :-)

It rained on the whole drive down and was wet when we got there, but that didn't stop us from hitting up the beach.

Aunt Misty drove over from Montgomery and stayed with us a few days.  We loved having her!

Unfortunately the water was closed the first couple of days we were there due to high rip currents so this is much as we were able to get in and really we could have gotten in trouble for just putting our feet in!

We got up Sunday morning and the weather was still crummy, but we hit the beach anyway.

I couldn't wait to get my toes in the sand.

And we caught a couple of jelly fish.  Luckily no one got stung!

Cole found him a friend to play with (which he did pretty much everyday we were there).  They are a month apart so they were on the same level.

He is actually quite talented. The A-10 he made was a favorite by lots of people.

Luckily by Monday the weather cleared up and was beautiful the rest of the week!

The past week

We are enjoying summer so far!  Cole is still in school on Tuesdays but it leaves the other 4 days of the week to have some fun!

Here we are last week at the base pool!  Not sure why he is making this face, but I promised he had fun!  He is getting to be such a great little swimmer and was diving for toys the entire time!

We also took in a $2 movie that the local theater is doing all summer.  All the money goes to charity so it is fun for us and for a great cause.  We saw Over the Hedge and it was really cute!

Cole sat in my lap and snuggled with me the entire movie and I loved every minute of it!

We also went to a the local splash park and playground and met some friends after the movie.

We picked up Subway and had a yummy picnic and then fun running around and playing!

We leave Saturday for a week at the beach!  I rented us a condo in Destin and we can't wait!  I love, love, love being close to the beach again!

Lake Columbus

We had the privilege of spending the day on the lake with some friends on Saturday.  The Erb's (Jason, Chanie & Bodey) have a boat and invited us out.  We actually knew them in Missouri and then they went to Korea for a year and are stationed here now.  It is so cool how small the Air Force really is.

They found a "beachy" area (really more rocky), but it was somewhere for the kids to get out of the boat and play.

We had great, hot weather and it was a perfect day for the lake!

Buffalo Park and Zoo

Friday we took a family day and went to Tupelo's Buffalo Park & Zoo.  It was a really neat place and we found out a local man (who I assume is fairly wealthy) owns this as a hobby.  It started as a buffalo farm where he had over 300 buffalos.  He eventually sold most of the buffalo and started adding more animals to have more of a variety.

Feeding the pygmy goats.  Oh what I would do to have a yard (or farm!) full of pygmy goats.  I have told Jonathan this lots of times so maybe someday we will.  I just love these little things and they can make great pets! :-)

MUD

My parents have a creek in their backyard and Cole and his cousins had a blast playing in it!  I know it's gross, but what kid doesn't love getting muddy and having a mud fight?  :-)
