Red face

It has been nice and hot and humid here in Missouri the last few days. I took Cole to the park and after about 15 minutes he looked like this:

After the park we headed to Walgreens to pick up a few things. An older lady in line in front of us kept saying how "sunburned" he was. I politely told her I had just applied sunscreen on him, but rather he was just really hot from our 15 minutes at the park. It is definitely better for us to hit the park early in the morning like we did today. It was shaded and not nearly as hot. Just about everyday Cole cries to go to the park. So, everyday this week we have been to the park. :-) Gotta give the boy what he wants... when it comes to park going anyway. :-)

When the weather gets nice...

We get outside!! I am hoping the cold and rain is long gone and we can start to enjoy summer here in Missouri!

Here are some pics of our Saturday fun enjoying the weather!

And a few shots from Sunday morning:

And you probably notice that Cole had on not one, not two, but three different outfits on Saturday. That boy can make a mess with the best of them! ;-)

Rainy Day

The title to this post should really read "Rainy Days" or "Rainy Weeks" or even just "Rainy May". We had a beautiful April, but May has just been downright nasty. Wet, cold, muggy, etc. Usually we get outside any chance we can get (even if just for a short time during break from the rain). But Saturday it rained ALL day long. So, we had to find ways to stay entertained in doors all day long. Kaitlyn spent most of the day at our house, which is nice because she gives Cole constant attention and me a break.

Here are some things we did to keep occupied.

Blowing bubbles in the garage

Yummy, unhealthy lunch at McDonald's

Messes like this reiterate why I like to play outside!

Cooking some lunch

Rough housing with Daddy (his face cracks me up)

While I am thankful we were able to spend the day together as a family I am also so ready for some sunny, warm Spring weather! Come on Mother Nature, get it together! :-)

Bathtime

Have you seen these fun bathtub markers from Crayola?

I recently went out on a limb and bought some for Cole. I feared he would spend the entire time drawing on himself or eating the markers, but he did surprisingly well and stuck (mostly) to coloring on the bathtub walls. :-)

And just for the record, I justified this totally unnecessary purchase by telling myself we could use the markers to practice colors (he still thinks every color is "pink") and writing his name. It's all about the justification! :-)

Saturday Fun

We started our Saturday off bright and early with the neighborhood garage sale. We had a good turn out since having the whole participate brings a good crowd. We sold most of our "big stuff" so we considered it a success.

After the garage sale Cole and I headed to Bryce's 2nd birthday party. Cole and Bryce have been church friends for quite some time now. They are moving in about a month so we will be sad to see them go.

Bubbles!

After the birthday party we hurried home for the neighborhood Ice Cream social. We had yummy custard from Custard's (the local ice cream shop) as well as toppings to go with it. It was sooo good!

And this is what the kid's were doing. They love playing in the back of and the inside of Jonathan's truck. Luckily he doesn't mind!

We topped off the weekend by working the toddler room at church on Sunday. I spent a portion of my Mother's Day shopping all by myself. Oh, the little things I used to take for granted. :-) We had pizza and peach cobbler for dinner and it was a great end to a great day. I am so thankful for some wonderful husband and sweet, spunky little boy. I never knew what joy being called "mommy" would bring to my life. I love you Cole Manly!

Sunny Day

Well, Spring has sprung here in Missouri which means lots of outside play time! This makes me happy for many reasons, and one of them being all of my wonderful neighbors. We have a street full of boys so every afternoon we all gather outside and play. Yesterday was a warm day so out came the water table for some wet fun.

Bubbles are fun, but MESSY!

Popsicles!

Ty and Brody were also over playing. Sure wish I could have gotten a picture with all 5 boys together. Maybe next time! I'm so thankful for my family friendly neighborhood and sweet neighbors too! :-)

Birthday

We had a good day Saturday celebrating 30 years of life for my dear husband. I tried to make his day special for him, even though he doesn't really get into birthdays like I do. We started out the morning hitting up a few garage sales. It was rainy so we didn't stay out for long. When we came back Cole helped him open his presents.

After opening presents we sang "Happy Birthday" and dove into the Reese's cupcakes I made. I got this recipe from my friend Dani and they are delicious!

Blowing out the candles.

The babysitter arrived and we headed out the door to dinner at Players. My favorite restaurant in the "Burg.
