Spring Break

This past week was Spring Break so Cole didn't have preschool and we didn't have any of our usual activities. But, that didn't stop us from keeping busy and having lots of fun. I love it now that Cole is at an age where we can go and do stuff together. I am a "goer" and so is Cole (and Jonathan too for that matter) so it works out well for all of us! :-)

So here is our week in pictures, with a little commentary too.

On Monday, we headed to Paradise Park in Lee's Summit. The weather was great so we spent most of our time there playing outside.

It tuckered Cole out and I had to get a picture because somehow the giraffe sticker was accidentally, but strategically, placed right on his binky. Didn't seem to bother him though. :-)

On Wednesday morning Jonathan was home since he had to night fly the night before. We began at the donut shop and it was SO good!

Then we headed to the park for a little outside fun.

On Thursday Cole and I went to Chuck-E-Cheese. He loved this basketball game and was pretty good at it!

He liked riding the horse too.

Then Friday we went with Kaden and Dani to see Toy Story 3 on ice. Here are the boys waiting on the show to start.

The end of the show. Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy also made an appearance so Cole was pretty excited. He knows these characters well!

Me and my boy!

And on Saturday, we ventured to Chuck-E-Cheese again! Crazy, right? It was our friend and neighbor, Adam's actual birthday so we went to celebrate with him. We all had a blast and Cole enjoyed having his friends and his dad there to play with.

After we left there we went to Bass Pro Shop. I have mentioned many times that Cole loves it there so we promised him after his nap in the car we would take him there. We bought him a fishing rod so he would have it to take to Alabama so he can fish with Pawpaw. Hint, hint, Pawpaw! :-)

We had a great day as a family and we got to spend it with friends too! Doesn't get much better than that!

Bowling and a Birthday Party

Friday night we met up with some friends from church so the kids (and male adult "kids") could bowl. :-) Cole always has fun with Sammie and Isaiah so he was really looking forward to it.

Cole and Sammie ready to bowl.

Cole and Isaiah. Isaiah is quite a bit more reserved than Cole. :-)

We also got to eat some yummy Chick-fil-A while we were there and then headed to Dairy Queen for mini blizzards when we left.

On Saturday we attended our neighbors, Adam and Abby's, joint birthday party. They are about 3 weeks (and 3 years) apart so it worked our for their mom to combine the party. It was a great idea, but there was LOTS of kids!

Cole and the birthday girl, Abby. She just turned 2 so she and Cole are about 8 months apart. Definitely a future girlfriend! ;-)

A family shot, but not sure why I am the only one who seems to know how to smile for a picture!

Chauna did a great job on the cakes! She made the marshmallow fondant herself and everything! I would like to think I helped, but really all I did was let her borrow my supplies and she handled the rest!

Adam is allergic to egg, so she made him his own cookie cake, complete with a dragon made out of fondant.

By the look on Cole's face I would say the party was a success!

Spring Day

Friday was the first nice spring-like day that we have had in awhile. Luckily, Jonathan was off so we went to one of Cole's favorite places (they all involve animals!)...the zoo!

We started off at the polar bear exhibit since it is the first thing you come to when you enter. The Africa part of the zoo was closed that day due to construction of a new skyline, but we so look forward to going back next month and riding the skyline over the animals.

Why walk or ride in the stroller when you can ride in style on daddy's shoulders. :-)

Our little family! I am BLESSED!

Lunch time! We took a picnic to eat at the zoo. All of the "good" tables were full, but we still found us a nice little spot.

This baby orangutan was the cutest thing ever! He just ate his lettuce and played while we all watched. I could have stayed all day just observing him.

Silly Cole posing with the kangaroos behind him.

This was yesterday at church. We worked the 3 year old room so I snapped a quick pic before the kiddos arrived. I thought he looked so cute in his spring colored shirt.

It is snowing today, but I must say I am glad. Glad because this should be the LAST snow of the season! Yay! The temperatures the rest of the week look great, with 70 degrees as the high on Thursday. Bring on Spring!!

Fun with Friends

On Monday we went with some friends to Jumping Jax in Overland Park. Cole and I went there once before while Jonathan was gone. We had such a good time when we went I figured going with friends would make it even better. Cole was a little touch and go this day...I will just leave it at that. :-)

Ready to play!

Cole and Adam climbing up.

Cole and and Kaden coming down.

Crazy boy!

Enjoying a snack break with Abby.

Also, I finally printed my blog book. It has been a year since I started the blog and since this is my scrapbook I knew it was time to print. It came in the mail a few days ago and I have loved looking back through it.

We are looking forward to warmer temperatures tomorrow and a trip to the zoo. Cole will be SO excited!

Splish Splash

Jonathan had to work Saturday so Cole and I started our day off right with some yummy French Vanilla (decaf) coffee courtesy of my new love...

the Keurig! I have been wanting one of these FOREVER and finally broke down and bought it. If you are a one cup coffee drinker like we are then this is perfect. It is great for us also because I drink decaf and Jonathan drinks regular. So every morning, one of rushes to make our coffee first (I won't say who) and then the other person has to wait, pour the old pot out and a make a new one. Jonathan gave me a hard time for wanting one and now he uses it everyday too!

Saturday afternoon we had a birthday party so Cole and I made a quick shopping trip to Target in Lee's Summit and then headed back for the party.

He and Kaden enjoying cake! They both pretty much just ate the frosting off the top. Works out great though because I prefer the cake so I finished it off for him. I may or may not have already had my own piece. :-) Thank goodness for having a treadmill in my basement.

Waiting to go swim with their party favor...a water gun. What a great favor for a pool party. They pretty much played with these the whole time.

Not sure what this face or pose is about, but he was ready to swim!

He followed Kaden around and did whatever he did the entire time. I am telling you, this kid needs a BIG brother. Wonder how I can arrange that one? :-)

Sure was nice to visit a pool when it was still so cold outside, but I am happy I didn't have to get in!
